Fall Building Youth Groups Event

We had a great day on October 25, 2014, for our third annual Fall Building Youth Groups event.  It was a great Fall day weather-wise and our young campers and their leaders were great as well.  2014-10-25 13.23.26

This year, we had youth and their leaders from Messiah Lutheran, South Williamsport, and Messiah Lutheran, Mifflintown.  We started the day with some team building and get acquainted activities.  After an hour, the kids all were comfortable with each other and were calling each other by name!  We played a round of Frisbee golf and then learned more about “Getting Ready.  Getting Hope” our theme for the day.  We read the story of John, the Baptist, and learned about Advent, which means “to come.”  We learned that this upcoming season of the church year is all about getting ready for the baby Jesus and is all about hope.  We pantomimed different ways we get ready for Christmas and made plans for how we would do that this year.  We also learned that color of the season is blue.

Following lunch, our young campers experienced the ropes course, further building their rapport and teamwork with one another.  This group was particularly good at the Whale Watch, getting it balanced in record time.  Before our closing activity, we played a round of Gaga Ball.

We wrapped up the day with a re-reading of our Bible story and reflecting on our day together.  We also sang some Pumpkin carols, which were songs about Halloween set to the tunes of Christmas carols.  It was a great day!  To see more pictures from the day, visit our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.823709411014054.1073741850.288147424570258&type=3&uploaded=6
