Season’s Greetings! We have begun our Christmas in July Week today with great gusto. As campers arrived, they were greeted with a Christmas wreath on the door and a tree in our lobby. Chad even wore a Christmas tie for registration! We had a great spaghetti meal complete with Sunday sundaes before our camp photo, worship, and campfire.
At worship tonight, we did a service for the Fourth Sunday in Advent, complete with a few hymns of the season. We celebrated Holy Communion as we were reminded that Jesus is with us in the bread and wine and wherever we go, since he came down at Christmas!
At campfire, we sang Christmas songs, heard Christmas jokes and had Christmas-themed skits. We even sang “Rudolph, The Red Nosed Reindeer:”
JaTanna and Courtney did a cool skit, too, about what it would have been like when Mary, the mother of our Lord, visited Elizabeth, who was pregnant with John, the Baptist. After a snack of soft pretzel bites, our campers got ready for bed and even heard some Christmas caroling by our leadership and program staffs. More holiday cheer tomorrow!
